Polynucleotide injections

Regenerate, repair and revitalise the skin in depth

Dr Franck Pourrez, aesthetic doctor in Nice, giving an injection with a syringe near the eye/eyebrow of a reclining patient wearing a headband.

What are polynucleotides in aesthetic medicine?

Polynucleotides (PN) are biotechnological active ingredients derived from salmon DNA, which is very close to human DNA.

They are used in aesthetic medicine for their cell-repairing, deeply hydrating and tissue-stimulating properties.

Injected in micro-doses into the dermis, polynucleotides activate fibroblasts, boost collagen production and improve the skin’s cellular environment.

Who is this treatment for?

Polynucleotides are suitable for patients who want to:

  • Improve the overall quality of their skin
  • Gently stimulate skin regeneration
  • Soften the early signs of ageing
  • Repair weakened skin (after procedures, post-acne, sun damage…)
  • Restore the skin’selasticity, density and hydration

It can be done in any season and suits all skin types.

Commonly treated areas

  • Face (cheeks, temples, eye area)
  • Neck and décolleté
  • Hands
  • Thin or sun-damaged skin
  • Acne scars or uneven texture

What happens during a polynucleotide session

1Initial consultation

An assessment is carried out to evaluate skin quality, define goals, rule out contraindications and set the protocol.

2Applying the polynucleotides

The product is administered using one of two techniques chosen by the doctor:

  • By injection : spread across the area or as micro-papules, using a fine needle or cannula on the targeted areas.
  • By microneedling : the product is applied to the surface and penetrates the dermis through the micro-perforations created by the device.

The session is only mildly uncomfortable, sometimes preceded by an anaesthetic cream depending on your sensitivity.

Average duration: 30 minutes. Back to normal activities: immediately, with possible moderate redness for a few hours.

3Follow-up and maintenance

A course of 3 to 4 sessions, 15 to 30 days apart, is generally recommended, followed by maintenance every three months.

Expected results

The effects are gradual and natural, visible from the 2nd or 3rd session:

  • Brighter, more even complexion
  • Better hydrated, more supple and denser skin
  • Improved texture, fine lines and pores
  • Reduced inflammation or post-acne marks
  • A more rested, healthier and younger look

Polynucleotides do not add volume; they act only on tissue quality.

Contraindications

  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • Known allergy to the product’s ingredients
  • Active skin infection or inflammation
