Calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA)

Restore volume and stimulate collagen naturally

Dr Franck Pourrez, aesthetic doctor in Nice, giving an injection with a syringe near the eye/eyebrow of a reclining patient wearing a headband.

What is calcium hydroxylapatite?

Calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) is a substance naturally present in the human body, particularly in bones and teeth.
In aesthetic medicine, it is used as an injectable gel containing CaHA microspheres, for its immediate filling and gradual bio-stimulating effects.

It is a resorbable product that is safe, well tolerated and particularly suited to restoring deep volume.

What are its aesthetic effects?

This treatment works on two levels:

  • Immediate filling effect : it restores volume to hollow areas (cheeks, temples, jaw, chin…)

  • Delayed regenerative effect : it stimulates natural collagen synthesis, improving firmness, density and skin quality in the following months

The result is natural, gradual and long-lasting.

Which areas can be treated with CaHA?

  • Cheekbones and hollow cheeks
  • Jaw and facial contour (jawline)
  • Receding or sagging chin
  • Hollow temples
  • Marionette lines and deep folds
  • Crepey skin on the neck or arms (can be diluted for mesotherapy)
  • This treatment is not used for the lips or the eye area, which require softer products.

What happens during a CaHA session

1Initial consultation

The doctor identifies the areas to be treated, assesses the volume needed, checks for contraindications and sets the protocol.

2Injecting the product

The product is injected deep with a cannula or needle, depending on the area.
The treatment is quick, well tolerated and involves no downtime.

3Immediate result + delayed effects

A volumising effect is visible from the session itself, while collagen regenerates over 6 to 12 weeks.
