Why have a peel?

A peel is an aesthetic medicine treatment that deeply renews the skin, without injections or surgery.
By applying a controlled exfoliating solution, it stimulates the cells and helps the skin regenerate.

This treatment is used to:

  • revive the complexion,
  • smooth irregularities,
  • fade dark spots,
  • reduce certain imperfections linked to acne or ageing.

Performed in a medical practice, the peel is personalised to your skin type, your aesthetic goal and the season.

What can be treated?

Peels effectively and gently correct a wide range of skin concerns:

  • Dull or uneven complexion
  • Enlarged pores, excess sebum
  • Pigmentation spots (melasma, sun spots, pregnancy mask…)
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Mild to moderate inflammatory acne
  • Shallow acne scars
  • Loss of radiance due to ageing or smoking
  • The doctor chooses the right protocol for each indication, according to your skin type and sensitivity.

The different types of peels

There are several types of peels, which differ by how deeply they act.

Superficial peels

They act on the outer layers of the epidermis.
Used to: revive radiance, improve texture, smooth minor irregularities and tighten pores.

Dr Pourrez uses Bright Peel FILLMED®, a gentle peel suitable for all skin types.

Medium-depth peels

They reach the superficial dermis and are used to:

  • treat pigmentation spots,
  • improve superficial scars,
  • smooth certain fine lines.

The protocol uses BioRePeel TCA, a new-generation medium-depth peel based on 35% TCA

Combined peels

They combine several active ingredients to target several concerns at once: radiance, acne, spots, excess sebum.

The benefits of peels

  • Restored radiance : by removing dead cells, the complexion is instantly brighter
  • Fewer imperfections : peels fade spots, superficial scars and irregularities
  • Improved texture : skin texture is refined and pores tightened
  • Collagen stimulation : some peels activate skin regeneration and youthful skin functions
  • Fresh-skin effect : a real refresh for the face, ideal when the seasons change

What happens during a peel session?

1Before the session: diagnosis and preparation

Everything starts with a personalised medical consultation. The doctor examines your skin, defines your goals and chooses the most suitable peel.
In some cases, skincare preparation at home is recommended 7 to 10 days before.

2On the day of treatment

  • Thorough cleansing of the skin
  • Application of the peel for a few minutes
  • Neutralising or rinsing, depending on the product used
  • Application of a soothing treatment

The session lasts about 20 to 30 minutes. It is painless, but may cause slight tingling or a feeling of warmth.

.

3After the peel

Depending on the strength of the treatment, mild to moderate peeling may appear between day 2 and day 5.
It is essential to apply the recommended skincare and avoid sun exposure, even in winter.

📆 The doctor may recommend a course of several sessions for a gradual, long-lasting effect.

What results can I expect?

From the first few days:

  • the complexion looks clearer and more even,
  • the skin is softer, smoother and clearer

After several sessions:

  • spots fade,
  • pores tighten,
  • skin texture improves,
  • small scars and fine lines fade.
  • The results last as long as you follow the recommended skincare and sun protection.

Contraindications

A peel cannot be performed in the following cases:

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Recent treatment with isotretinoin (Roaccutane®)
  • Skin infection or active cold sores
  • Sensitised or sunburnt skin
  • Known allergy to any of the peel’s ingredients

The initial consultation checks that your skin is suitable and rules out any risk.

Frequently asked questions

A peel is a very popular non-invasive aesthetic procedure for improving the appearance of the skin. It involves applying a gentle chemical solution to remove damaged outer layers, encouraging cell renewal and revealing fresher, smoother, more radiant skin.

Peels are effective for a variety of skin concerns such as fine lines, pigmentation spots, acne scars and wrinkles. Suitable for different skin types, the treatment can also improve skin texture and evenness, for a more radiant complexion.

Our qualified doctor will carefully assess your skin type and discuss your specific concerns in order to recommend the most suitable type of peel for optimal results.

After a peel, it is normal to feel a slight, temporary burning or tingling sensation. Your skin may peel for a few days to a week after the treatment, depending on the type of peel. To ensure a smooth recovery and lasting results, it is essential to follow the aftercare instructions provided by our experienced team. Most patients can resume their normal activities shortly after treatment.

It all depends on what is being treated. For a “radiance boost” effect, a single session may be enough.
To treat spots or acne, or to improve texture, a course of 3 to 4 sessions 2 to 4 weeks apart is often recommended.

No, the vast majority of medical peels are painless. You may feel slight tingling or warmth for a few minutes, but it remains perfectly bearable.

It depends on the type of peel used.

  • Superficial peels cause little or no peeling.

  • Medium-depth peels may cause mild to moderate peeling between the 2nd and 5th day.

Generally speaking, peels are performed outside periods of sun exposure, to avoid any risk of pigmentation rebound.
Gentler protocols can sometimes be considered in summer, under certain conditions, with strict sun protection.

Yes, but the choice of product must be adapted. Some peels are designed for sensitive skin or darker skin types.
The doctor always adapts the protocol after examining your skin.
